13 - Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming.

14 - As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.

15 - But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do;

16 - for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.

1 Peter 1:13-16

Remember last class how I spoke to y’all about how being at the time we are we will make mistakes along the way and even in our adulthood also continue to make mistakes?

Well, throughout those mistakes or sins we commit, yes God forgives and forgets but here’s also another thing he calls us to do which is to live a holy life after these mistakes and sins we have committed. Living holy in simple terms means, separation from sin and separation from the ways of the world. We all can live a holy life and especially now that we have the help of the Holy Spirit which Jesus left us with. In his word he says, in John 14:26, “But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” And what did he mean by that? We now will have almost like a person with us that if we ask for guidance He will give and if we ask for help He will help us and give us the strength and power we need to live a holy life.

God is holy, meaning He is pure and set apart…He wants us to be holy, too, but we can only do that if we let Him live through us. And how do we do this? We do this by looking/ seeking God and scripture in all things.

Today let’s ask God in prayer to remove everything in our lives that is not glorifying Him. It’s hard to let go of things we are used to doing but the life God has for us is much more beautiful.

“From the ashes a new life is born.”
